Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account details: your full name, email address, phone number and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in readable form.
• Google sign-in: if you choose Continue with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. We do not access your contacts, emails, files or any other Google data.
• Order details: the items you order, delivery address, location coordinates, delivery instructions and order history.
• Vendor and rider details: business and identity information, verification documents or photos, payout bank account details, and, for riders, live location while a delivery is active.
• Payment information: payments are processed by Paystack. We receive payment confirmations and references. We do not store your full card number.
• Technical data: device and browser information, push notification subscriptions you enable, and security and error logs.

2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and verify your email address.
• To process orders, calculate delivery fees, assign riders and show live delivery progress.
• To process payments, refunds and payouts.
• To send order updates and notifications you have enabled.
• To prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service and meet legal obligations.
• To maintain and improve the platform and provide support.

3. Google user data

BukkaFood uses Google sign-in only to authenticate you. We use your Google name and email address to create or access your BukkaFood account. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or transfer it except as needed to provide the service. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the service:

• Vendors receive your name, order contents and delivery details to prepare your order.
• Riders receive the pickup and delivery details, your name and contact number needed to complete the delivery.
• Service providers that run the platform: Paystack for payments and transfers, Supabase for database and authentication, Mapbox for maps and address lookup, and Google for sign-in.
• Authorities or other parties where required by law or to protect rights, safety and the security of the platform.

5. Location data

We use the delivery address you provide to calculate distance and fees. Riders share live location only while handling an active delivery, and customers can see rider progress for their own order. You can disable location permissions in your device settings, but some features may then stop working.

6. Retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal, accounting, fraud prevention and dispute resolution requirements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Security

We use access controls, encrypted connections and role-based permissions to protect your data. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your login details private.

8. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and related regulations, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and request a portable copy. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

9. Children

BukkaFood is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows the latest version, and we will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
